About

My journey started in 2016 at Paul Mitchell Phoenix, where I was mentored by cutting legend Scott Cole. He was tough, but he didn’t just teach me how to cut; he taught me to see line, elevation, and movement. I spent the next few years in the trenches, from the high-volume floors of Supercuts to high-end men’s salons where clipper guards weren’t allowed. Every tailored look, from zero fades to long layers, had to be done with shears alone. That discipline earned me Barber of the Year and a spot styling for Phoenix Fashion Week.

In 2021, I became a Paul Mitchell Educator in Ohio. That’s where I found a new passion: educating my clients about their hair. Most people see a cut they love online but don’t know if it fits their density, face shape, or curl pattern. That’s where I come in. I’ve built an “eye” for those details over 10 years, and I use it to customize every look, whether it’s a technical shag, a messy wolf cut, or a sharp precision bob.

I created Hare & Hone to fill a gap I saw here in Albany: high-level cutting expertise in a quiet, relaxed space. This is a private, residential boutique with a cozy, “hidden garden” vibe. No double-booking, no forced small talk, and zero judgment. It’s just 1-on-1 attention, so you can finally exhale.

The name Hare & Hone is a nod to my Irish heritage. The hare is Ireland’s national animal, and a hone is the stone used to sharpen a barber’s straight razor. It represents where I come from and my early years as a barber.

When the shears are down, I’m at home with my partner Chad, our dog Ham, and Benny the cat. I’m usually crocheting, painting minis for my next D&D session, or tending to my “barely surviving but still thriving” plant collection.

At Hare & Hone, I want you to feel seen, heard, and relaxed. I can’t wait to welcome you to the studio!
